<p>Brandon's early influences as an author include C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. So much so that he read the <em>Chronicles of Narnia</em> and the <em>Lord of the Rings</em> out loud to his daughter when she was little. </p>
<p><em>The Screwtape Letters</em>, by Lewis, has been a favorite especially for its sardonic spin on Satan and his minions.</p>
<p>Brandon's first career had him working with hundreds of young people. During those years he kept reflecting on how relevant Lewis's <em>Letters </em>were to all young people. So he wrote the <em>Screwtape Emails</em> as an updated approach to exploring the temptations and diabolical machinations of the Evil One.</p>
