Der Preslav-Schatz, der 1978 in der Nähe der mittelalterlichen Hauptstadt Bulgariens entdeckt wurde, umfasst über 180 Objekte aus Gold, Silber, Emaille, Perlen und Edelsteinen. Der Schmuck spiegelt die diplomatischen Beziehungen Bulgariens zum byzantinischen Kaiserhof in Konstantinopel aus dem 10. Jahrhundert wider. Der Schatz wurde im Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA) in Mainz in Zusammenarbeit mit der bulgarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften und dem Museum Veliki Preslav untersucht. Im Jahr 2018 war es das Thema einer Konferenz im Louvre. Dieser von Jannic Durand eingeleitete Band enthält 14 peer-reviewte Beiträge.
