The Prayers to the Orient of Light presents the first complete English translation—accompanied by the fully vocalised Arabic text—of al-wāridāt wa’l-taqdīsāt (“The Spiritual Influxes and Sanctifications”) by the Illuminationist master Shihābuddīn Yaḥyā Suhrawardī (d. 1191). Composed near the end of his short but incandescent life, this collection of liturgical recitals and visionary supplications reveals a suprarational mysticism in which Qurʾānic, Neoplatonic, Zoroastrian, and Hermetic currents interpenetrate in a uniquely Ishrāqī (Illuminationist) idiom.
