Transgender studies is an umbrella field that brings into focus a range of embodied gender identities that exhibit considerable variance. To date, there has been little published on trans, gender variant and intersex people. This volume rectifies this through exploring the diversity and complexity of transgender people’s experiences and demonstrates that gendered bodies are constructed through different social, cultural and economic networks and through different spaces and places.
