(Ebook) Paradoxical Psychotherapy: A Practitioner’s Guide by Mohammad Ali Besharat ISBN 9783031277160, 3031277163

Paradox refers to the clinical theories and practice put forward by Adler(1923), Dunlap (1928), and Frankl (1939). Adler (Dinkmeyer & Pew, 1979)and Kraupl Taylor (1969) described paradox as a positive use of patient’sresistance against the therapist.Beyond the different definitions of paradoxical interventions, clinicalindividual and family practice of paradox therapy, the moral issues ofparadoxical interventions, and the theoretical bases of paradoxical models, the present work relies on more than 20 years of controlled clinical trials soas to introduce a model of paradox therapy that brings together differentfoundations, assumptions, and theories in a new order. The foundations andassumptions, as well as the way they have been brought together within anew psychotherapeutic model called “Paradox + Timetable = Cure: A perfectmodel of psychotherapy,” have been given in “Theoretical foundationsof PTC: A perfect model of psychotherapy.” The present book, which suitsPTC therapists, offers a complete report of the treatment process of 20patients through which it discusses the practical aspect of paradoxicaltimetable, the prescription of therapeutic tasks and exercises, the managementof each session, the effective mechanisms of paradoxical timetable, ending the treatment, relapse, and the roles of the therapist and the patient inthe process of PTC.The PTC model successfully applied to anxiety disorders, obsessivecompulsiveand related disorders, and somatic symptoms and related disorderswithin a three-year period, first. Then, it was applied to other psychologicaldisorders including personality disorders, couple and familyproblems, childhood and adolescence disorders, and certain types of sexualdisorders since 2001.The present book aims to provide a succinct, yet comprehensive, practicalguide to the PTC model. Most of the points referred to briefly in footnotes inthis book have been fully discussed in Theoretical fundamentals of PTC.
