(Ebook) Numerical Simulation of Reactive Flow by Elaine S. Oran, Jay P. Boris ISBN 9780521022361, 9780521581752, 0521022363, 0521581753

The 1st edition hardcover version of this book was slightly better. This book reads more like an encyclopedia than a serious text on numerical methods for reactive flow. The derivations are confusing. It is written in an early 1980s thesis style which makes it hard to follow. As with many CFD books, at least a quarter of the book is wasted on basic numerical issues: numerical simulation, finite differences, ODEs. Those topics are prerequisite material treated properly in numerical analysis texts. It's a waste of space to repeat that material in a sloppy fashion in a CFD book. The book is limited because it mostly uses FCT methods. I am not a believer in the FCT religion. If you are into FCT, then maybe this book is for you. The book is aimed at people who do simulation of combusion of gasses. Other topics are mentioned briefly. A specific problem domain is typical of CFD books, so get used to it.
