(Ebook) Lübeck Style? Novgorod Style? Baltic Rim Central Places as Arenas for Cultural Encounters and Urbanisation, 1100–1400 AD (Centre for Baltic Studies. CCC Papers 5) by Muntis Auns ISBN 9789984675374, 9984675378

Transactions of the central level symposium of the Culture Clash or Compromise (CCC) project held in Talsi September 18-21 1998.
The present book belongs to a series of publications presented by the international research project "Culture Clash or Compromise?" (or just CCC), which has its base at Gotland University College ... The project investigates various aspects of the process of Europeanisation on the Baltic Rim, AD 1100-1400. The book contains the transactions of a project meeting held in Talsi, Latvia, from September 18th to 21st 1998, which was kindly hosted by the Talsi Museum.
The main attention during the meeting was given to the problem of urbanisation - the emergence and development of towns and cities, their connection with trade (trade routes) and power. The title of the book "Lübeck Style? Novgorod Style?" is chiefly a metaphor for the Baltic Sea as an arena for encounters between East and West, and for the various influences that were pooling together in the medieval urbanisation processes of Scandinavia and the East Baltic countries.
