(Ebook) Introduction to Chemistry, Fifth Edition by Richard C. Bauer, James P. Birk, Pamela S. Marks

The fifth edition of Introduction to Chemistry continues tobuild on our belief that students learn best when the textand our classroom presentations focus on a conceptual ap-proach to chemistry. Our class meetings are significantlydifferent from traditional lecture presentations in manyways. Beginning with the first week of classes and con-tinuing through the rest of the semester, we follow a se-quence of topics that allows us to explain macroscopicphenomena from a molecular perspective. This approachplaces emphasis on conceptual understanding over algo-rithmic problem solving. To help students develop concep-tual understanding, we use numerous images, animations, video clips, and live demonstrations. Roughly a third ofeach class period is devoted to explaining chemical phe-nomena from a conceptual perspective. During the re-maining time, students work in groups to discuss andanswer conceptual and numerical questions.
