PrefaceIn addition to its basic, but very diverse tasks - related to the affairs of its members, communication and architectural culture - the Chamber of Hungarian Architects has made the processing and presentation of the values of the built environment one of its main goals.We believe that architectural works, created to a high standard, set an example and they preserve the quality of a given moment of an age in the most enduring and accessible way. The lifespan of a building and a person are different, but that is one of the beauties and characteristics of architecture. This book is the opening piece of a long-needed series, providing a comprehensive picture of all types of buildings of specific time intervals - within and outside Hungary’s borders - by presenting contemporary Hungarian architectural works and creators.Obviously, such a selection can never be complete. The content, supervised by an editorial board, had to meet the size limits and primarily mirrors professional recognitions. The online version of the bilingual (Hungarian and English) volume is intended to be published on the website of the Chamber of Hungarian Architects. Subsequently,  in cooperation with the Hungarian Museum of Architecture and Monument Protection Documentation Centre, we are planning to create a bilingual website of contemporary Hungarian architecture, based on the database collected for the book. This constantly growing website will provide more detailed publications supplemented by works that have been left out of this book due to size limits. This virtual catalog – as a result of its structure - will also serve as a database for research, in addition to being a searchable, up-to-date, unique archive of Hungarian architecture, in accordance with the most recent documentation principles.I am pleased that most of the invited architects supported this joint effort by contributing with their data - even if there were a few cases where cooperation couldn’t be achieve
