How Vocaloid Works: A Beginner’s Guide to the Science Behind Yamaha’s Singing Voice Synthesis Software by Gretchen Jude instant download

Tuesday, the 29th of March 2016, at Zepp Namba in Osaka: I’m finally going
to see Hatsune Miku live in concert! J and I arrive around 6:40pm, stand in
a line that snakes halfway around the block but moves incredibly fast. This
is an extremely well-oiled machine that we are entering. The thrill of the
crowd is palpable as hundreds stream in, skillfully directed by venue work-
ers in navy suits and white gloves. We enter the concert hall just before
7:00pm, and though it is a full house, the Japanese crowd automatically
makes room. Once inside the first thing I notice is how conventional the
audience looks, clad in dark jackets and tidy unmarked sweatshirts.
The bass booms massively with the intro to the first song. The crowd’s
energy surges, but there is no pushing toward the stage. I stand by the
door, near a venue employee who appears to doze on his short pedestal.
There is no unruly behavior for the bouncers to deal with. Which is just as
well, since the venue is packed with its capacity of 2500—mostly strait-
laced 30-something Japanese men on the standing-room floor, but a few
families chaperoning young girls up in the balcony seats. Standing on the
first level, I don’t get the best view of the stage and feel sorry for the
Japanese women at the back. A massive bassline shakes the room as intro
comes in—the energy of the crowd surges, but still no push toward the
stage. A glimpse of sky-blue ponytail swishing as the star of the show
appears, holographically rendered life-sized on a translucent, back-
lit screen.
