Overall, COVID-19 has been clinically more dangerous for the elderly than for young women and neonates; however its consequences are very important from the pathophysiology point of view and have ethical consequences since, although rarely, severe and life-threatening cases can occur in women and neonates. We could not remain blinded to these issues that are so relevant although relatively uncommon. This pushed us to increase our knowledge investing in research on perinatal COVID-19 and eventually to edit this book.We felt the need for a place where to present the knowledge about the crossroad between COVID-19 and perinatology. This book, written thanks to many esteemed colleagues who shared the same need, would like to represent that place. We can only thank all the colleagues who contributed to this endeavor.We hope this can be useful to summarize everything that is known from the perspective of different specialists. We hope this can push us to advance even more for maternal and neonatal well-being.
