This tenth edition of Cellular and Molecular Immunology includessubstantial revisions, reflecting recent scientific advances andclinical applications of the science, while at the same time we havemaintained the clear and readable style that has been typical ofprevious editions. Our presentation of new information focusesprimarily on the important concepts and has not significantlyincreased the length of the book. We have also rewritten manysections for increased clarity, accuracy, and completeness.As in previous editions, each chapter is written so that it can beread and understood on its own, without referring to otherchapters. To do this, it is often necessary to repeat some basicconcepts and general principles that are covered in other chapters.We feel such repetition is valuable because it enables the reader toconsolidate learning and understand the content of each chapterindependently of the others. We also feel this is helpful for facultyteaching from the book because they can consider each chapter asthe topic of one or two lectures.We have also continued to improve our illustration program.Many illustrations have been revised to provide more visual depthand clarity.
