This book is written as aninstruction manual for applying, comprehending, and interpreting biostatistics ratherthan delving deeply into the theoretical underpinnings and heavy statistical calculations.This book originally began as a design for a handbook in our workshops and training sessionson epidemiological research, but has evolved into its current shape thanks to contributionsfrom training participants, peers, and students. The book has been designed for12 sessions to be conducted over 3 intensive days (an agenda is provided in annexure).We provide hands-on data with details for practice. Ideally, such a three-day sessionwould be most beneficial for researchers who are preparing to write their research protocols,dissertations, or scientific papers.This book has been written as an aid to the few biostatistics enthusiasts who stand astroubleshooters for the entire medical college, hospital, or institute. The book wouldserve as a very helpful rapid reference guide for epidemiology units, research advisorycommittees, and medical education units/departments. We believe that an experiencedepidemiologist or health researcher can also conduct a workshop based on this manual. Ifanyone plans to hold such a workshop, we ask that the book be provided as a part of theworkshop kit so that all participants can benefit from it and refer to it in the future. Wecontinue to conduct workshops on biostatistics based on this manual, and would love tohelp in conducting such sessions.
