(Ebook) A Second Chance by Tessa Vidal

The glow of the sun made Lauren’s blue eyes shocking to gaze upon. Ibent my face down and inhaled, relishing the clean scent of Lauren’s thick, curly blonde hair. No gels or other hair gunk, it was the smell of her skinbaking in the sultry heat. We were absorbing the sun’s rays on a large, square rock in the middle of Lake Johnson. Lauren insisted we go to ourusual hiding place, just out of sight from nosy people hiking around thelake. A thick, old tree sprouting out of the water blocked our hiding placefrom the main path on the west side of the lake while still letting us seewho was around. We’d walked from our apartment to the lake where ourfriends hung out on steamy summer afternoons. For once, we were alone.“How long will this last?” Lauren asked, the skin of her back sticking tomy chest. She was between my legs, her fingers smoothing the skin of mycalves underneath the cool water.“What are you talking about?” I murmured and wrapped my armstighter around Lauren’s chest and pulled her closer. A flock of seagulls afew yards away fought over a piece of plastic, their squawks making itdifficult to hear what she was saying.“This” she said, waving her arms, “There’s no one around. Usually wesee at least one group of noisy kids, or at least people we know from thebar.” Once again I was amazed by her ability to read my mind, alwaysknowing how I felt, or what I would say before I’d even thought about it.“Let’s enjoy it while it lasts. Take every moment, relish it like it’s…” Ibegan.
