Целью данной монографии является исследование связи сознания и нарратива посредством проведения когнитивно-нарратологического исследования безумных умов в художественных произведениях. Работа, расположенная на стыке нарративной и когнитивной науки (когнитивной лингвистики, когнитивной психологии и когнитивной нейропсихологии), использует косвенный эмпирический подход к художественной репрезентации безумия. В качестве основного текста исследования выбран роман американского писателя Кена Кизи «Пролетая над гнездом кукушки», при этом при необходимости уделяется должное внимание и другим нарративам о безумии. Эта книга не только демонстрирует ценность чтения и перечитывания литературной классики в современную эпоху, но и проливает свет на исследования когнитивной нарратологии, когнитивной поэтики, нарративов безумия и литературы в целом.
