The German 88mm artillery is probably the most famous piece of artillery of the Second World War . The gun was initially intended as anti-aircraft guns , called 8,8 cm Flak 18, 36, 37 or 41 and 43. The modern name Flak comes from the German Flugabwehrkanone. Although the gun was intended as anti-aircraft guns, earned his spurs in many other areas, often out of necessity and in the absence of specific material. The main secondary use showed that the anti-tank weapon , even through the armor of the Russian T-34 and KV-1 could penetrate. This also led to use as the main armament of the monstrous Tiger I . The performances were excellent and were also estimated by the Allies in value. The flak was first deployed in 1936, during the Spanish Civil War . The gun is in the Army Air Defense Insignia shown. This is an excerpt from the article 8.8 cm Flak 18/36/37 of the open access encyclopedia Wikipedia. Wikipedia is the author list.
